How did Tennis bracelets get their name?

In 1987 at the U.S open, legendary ladies tennis star Chris Evert, stopped play because the clasp on her diamond bracelet had broken and she needed to find it before playing the next point. In a post match interview she called the piece her “tennis bracelet” and the legend was born.
